Vampire Child
chapter 2
"Oh, I'm sorry. Did I wake you?"
"No, it's fine." I said clenching my head. The room was small and bright. The walls were yellow and so was the carpet. The drapes were shut, but small rays of sunlight shone through, lightly piercing my skin.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes. My head is just... never mind. I'm fine."
"Okay. Dr. Roberts sent me in here to check on you."
When I sat up and noticed the girl hovering over me. Her face was round and her long black hair swept in different directions around it. She looked about fifteen... I wonder how old I am.
I remember I was six. But it's been so long...
"Are you sure you're okay?" the girl asked again.
"Yes. I am fine, but would you mind tell me where I am exactly?"
"Oh, you don't know? Well, honestly I'm sorry, but you're in group therapy."
she said hanging her head in shame. I noticed then the dark circles under her eyes.
"Really... I'm sorry, but do you have any idea how I got here? I know it
sounds strange, but I can't quite remember much before my mother- I
mean, I just can't remember anything really."
"You were dropped off at the door. You were unconscious and, I'm sorry, but they found drugs on you, so i guess they figured you either were left here by parents unwilling to care for you, or passed out at the door. I was watching from the hall, you were nude, but I didn't see anything, the nurses immediately covered you."
I clenched my teeth. Damn you Ariana. Sending me to live among
humans. Although strangely I'm not attracted to this one's blood in the least. "What is your name?"
"I'm Meredith."
"Meredith?! Are you in association with King Arc?"
"Hmm, no, I don't know any kings. I think we should get back to Dr. Roberts before he comes looking for us." Meredith said in a tone indicating I said this because of the "drugs". But she also tensed and took the question with shock.
"Hah. Tell Dr. Roberts to f*ck himself. I'm leaving." I got up and walked to the window, concealing myself in my cloak.
"Interesting long black cloak, Caine."
"Really? Because I never told you my name, "Meredith".
"Damn it, you caught me." she said sarcastically.
"I'll make a deal, you let me leave and I won't give away your secret,
Simonis Syraneres."
"I go by Meredith Rossi now."
"Haha really, well see you later, Miss. Rossi." I leaped to the
windowsill covering my face in the cloak.
"You can't leave." Meredith ordered grabbing my arm.
"What? Why not? You understand, I'm a vampire. I can not live among these humans. How can you stand it?"
"I've loved humans. Of course they all die and I have to travel multiple times starting new lives so no one catches on with how old I am. But I enjoy it. It's like... a game. You love them, they die, you move to a new place and the game starts over again."
"Hmph. That's disgusting. I'm leaving, Simonis- I mean, Meredith."
"No you're not." she said still grabbing my arm.
"Oh, will you miss me if I go?" I said smirking but slightly irritated.
"Because... you can come along." Meredith's face lit up for a moment.
"If" then they slanted. "you promise to be a real vampire. That means no petty little love affairs with your food."
"What makes you think I'd come?"
"You don't like me?" I asked faking being hurt.
"You've changed... your hair, your eyes... everything. I liked you as an cute little, ugly, six year old. You don't understand how hard it was on me to hear that you died. I was imprisoned for so long, surrounded by guards 24-7 making sure I didn't kill myself. My father hated it. Since my father and Arc were so close, he hated watching my father being in so much pain. So he admitted to what he had done to you and told my father where you were being contained. My father was furious and that's when Arc returned to the castle and hung himself. So I was came to the human world waiting for you to be sent here by my father when he finally got over his rage and released you."
I jumped out he window while Meredith was looking down. It's better off I never see her again. I choked back tears, but I was crying for no reason. I've changed. Meredith- no her real name, Simonis Syraneres, has changed too. I don't even know hat lies she's been fed. My mother released me. Not her father. Why is she here? She can't kill humans. I can't live among them. If she thinks I'm gonna stay with her and continue her stupid fantasy from a childhood crush then she's wrong.
"No, it's fine." I said clenching my head. The room was small and bright. The walls were yellow and so was the carpet. The drapes were shut, but small rays of sunlight shone through, lightly piercing my skin.
