Is This The End?
He Just, Moved On...
“Well, hey there, nice to meet you, I´m Billie Joe, call me Billie, please.” Billie did the same as Mike and I reddened a little more.
“Nice to meet you too.” I smiled with less of a jitter and Billie returned me a warm gentle smile.
***
“So you and your friends in… Canada… you have a band.” I heard Billie´s voice that was a few meters from us, he was talking to Chuck; Tré was still with Mike and a girl who remained as long as we did.
“You´re from New Jersey, right?” Mike asked. The 2 hours of backstage had ended, but our talk seemed never ending. His depth eyes seemed to drown me inside them as we sat out in the balcony. A beer on the little table.
“Yep…” I looked out of the balcony into the shiny New York lights, the city that never sleeps, right? I chuckled to myself.
“What´s so funny, huh?” He smiled.
“Nothing…” I answered still giggling. “I was just… thinking of Frank Sinatra´s song, it´s kinda… funny.” I giggled.
“I wanna wake up in a city that never sleeps, New York, New York” Mike sang shyly, I laughed. “Who hasn’t heard that song, right?”
“Yeah…” I smiled. Our dumb non-creative chat was entertaining even though we were talking about nothing at all. Mike took the beer from the table and drank what was left of it.
“Are you and Chuck, like… you know, boyfriend/girlfriend?” Mike asked as he still looked out the balcony. His eyes shined with the reflection of the city lights. I remained silent for a while, as if to verify my ears had really heard that… or… was I doubting of the answer? “Huh?”
“No… I, I mean… he was long ago… we were just kids… you know?” I finally answered with a grimace all over my face.
“Oh… what about Mike? Is he?” Where is he getting with all this, anyway?
“No… I actually… just met him today.” I giggled. “He´s my teacher´s cousin… I don’t know, but my teacher kind of got me into a ´date´ with him; we´re not taking it as one though.” I kept giggling; Mr. Rob was a kid for doing this, I swear.
“Oh, haha. Uh, that´s cool…” He smiled at me.
“Yeah… I found Chuck today too…” I tried to keep the conversation going, just to hear some more of his voice.
“What do you mean?” He asked, and he really sounded amused by the whole thing.
“Well, yeah… we were boyfriend/girlfriend when we were 14,15 years old… we crashed into each other today, we crashed…” I laughed.
“Sounds like a nice crash.” Mike chuckled.
“Yeah, I know. I´ve had an amazing day; to tell you the truth, the best by far.” He grinned, still looking at me.
“Wanna go out?”
“Uh, what?”
“I mean, do you want to go somewhere else? All of us, maybe, we can… uh…” He rubbed his left arm as he stammered. “Just hang out…” I giggled.
“Sure. Let´s go invite the others.” I smiled, stood up and walked in, he came right behind me.
As we came into the room Chuck smiled at me and invited me with him, Mike and Billie. Mike Dirnt joined at the same time as me.
“Hey, where were you two?” Billie asked lifting his eyebrows, what is he insinuating? I giggled.
“We were, uh, just talking out in the balcony.” Mike replied with a smirk.
“Just talking, right…” Billie laughed as Chuck frowned. I punched Billie´s arm playfully; who´d know I´d get to do something like this? “Ow…” He kept chuckling. Mike rolled his eyes and went on with his invitation.
“Hey, we were wondering; maybe you guys would like to go somewhere else. It´s kinda getting too suffocating in here.” Mike commented, making Billie laugh again. I gave him a severe look before he opened his mouth, guess it worked. He just took a deep breath and kept giggling to himself.
“Sure,” Billie said between a more dissimulated snort, “let´s tell Tré, he seemed like he was going to get some before he left with the blond.” I rolled my eyes and walked behind him as everyone else.
I sat on a bunk and Chuck came to sit next to me, leaving Billie, Mike and Mike go look for Tré and the blond.
“Hey.” He smiled as he took a seat.
“Hi.” I smiled back.
“How has your talk been?” He asked with a grin.
“It has been… ridiculously amazing.” I giggled.
“That’s great.”
“I know…” I put my arm about his waist, for a moment I felt like we were back to when I was 14 years old and he was 15... He blushed. “I missed you, Jesus…! You don’t know how much I needed you after you and the guys left…” He looked down and put his arm about my shoulders.
“I know… we missed you helluva lot too.” He sighed.
“Do you still see the guys?” Please, tell me you do…
“Yes…,” he sighed again, “except for David…” David… My eyes were about to tear up, how I missed that sweet, immature boy.
“Why?” Please, tell me you didn’t fight…
“Well, you know, his parents divorced; him and his mother moved out, back to Quebec… The guys and I are still at Montreal…”
“Oh… but, you don’t have any idea if he’s alright? No news of him?” Chuck seemed uncomfortable for a second, but he sighed it out and smiled weakly.
“No… he, uh, stopped sending letters about a year and a half ago…” I remained silent, and started wondering if David was ok. “I’m sure he’s ok, he just… moved on, you know.” He stared at my profile.
“Yeah… you’re right…” I sighed. “I wish I could do that.”
“What?” He pulled me closer.
“Move on… I swear I… I haven’t stopped thinking about you and the guys, not for one day…”
“I know, we never forgot you neither…” He´s lying…
“How come… don’t lie to me Chuck.”
“We didn’t.”
“Why didn’t you send a letter or something, then?” I looked into his eyes. I felt angry and didn’t even know why.
“We did!” His eyes opened wider.
“No, you didn’t. I never got one letter.” I argued.
“I swear we did… do you still live at the same place?”
“Yes… I’m still in the hell hole.” Chuck sighed.
“We really did… after a year of sending them in, and not getting anything back, we thought you were mad at us or something… and thought it was better to stop bothering you… I think even David sent you some, but he mentioned in his letters you never got back to him neither.”
“Really?” My eyes tear up. “I-I never got them…” My brain looked for an answer for this situation and it didn’t take me long to know what had happened. “My father did it!” I jumped up with tears of rage in my eyes. “That fucking son of a bitch did it! He took the letters before I could get to them, that’s why there was never any mail at all! That asshole! How could he!?” I went crazy with rage and screamed my lungs out.
“Hey, shh, it’s ok, don’t worry, we gave that a possibility too… It’s ok. Calm down.” Chuck embraced me tightly and whispered these words into my ear. I was so mad, why did he do that? He had no right!
“Hey guys, what’s going on?” Mike and Billie came running into the room.
“Are you ok?” Mike asked. “What did you do to her!?” He screamed at Chuck.
“Nothing, it’s ok, just leave us alone, please.” Chuck replied.
“Get your hands off her, what did you do to her!? You want me to believe you?” Mike Dirnt kept screaming.
“It’s ok… he didn’t do anything. I’m ok Mike, thanks.” I pulled away from Chuck and look at Mike so he’d know I was telling the truth. “I’m ok…” This way unrealistic… why is he even worried?
So, hope you like, I may last a little long to update again, but you enjoy this chapter, okay? ;p
