Bend And Not Break
“He’s going to get busted!” The most perfect voice exclaimed. I could recognize his voice anywhere. David came out jumping in the middle of us on the back sit.
“David!” I smiled almost jumping out of my seat.
“Hey!” He grinned and kissed my cheek.
“What are you doing here!?” I said excitedly.
“I came to see you.” I smiled and blushed. He grinned back at me.
“Well, I’m glad you did.”
“David, seat down, I am driving and I need the view.”
“How could I let you drive?” David sighed. “I just hope you don’t kill us… Or… get us in jail”
“Doubt it…” Chuck answered cheerfully. “I’ve got skills; I just haven’t done the exam in good conditions…” We chuckled.
“Well you better look at the road, dude.” David gave him the advice.
“Oh, yea.” He looked back to the road, David and I giggled.
“How are you feeling today, my lady?” David took my hand that was resting between Chuck and me on the car’s compartment. I smiled.
“I’m great, now that you’re here.” I giggled. “You?”
“Me too.” He smirked.
“It’s great to know my two friends are in such a great mood…” Chuck said in a faked, happy tone.
“Oh, sorry. How are you Mr. Comeau.” I giggled again. He smirked.
“Well, I’m fine. In this exact moment, I’m pretty calm.” He said in a casual voice. David smacked the back of his head; he looked back with revenge in his eyes.
“Dude, you’re driving!” David pointed at the road.
“Oh shit!” Chuck exclaimed. We both giggled. A short silence happened. “Do I take this street?”
“Yeah…” The last street to get to school… David sighed and squeezed my hand. I looked at him.
“Did you like my gift?” He smiled weakly.
“I love it.” I smiled. The car stopped, I think so did my heart.
“This is it?” Chuck asked. I looked at the big building in front of us… yes it is.
“Yeah…”
“Still early?” I looked at my cell phone 7:10.
“10 minutes for the first class…” I sighed.
“You can stay a few minutes more then.” David said turning up the volume.
“Guess so…” I stuttered.
“Did you rest enough last night?
“Yeah…” David stared at Chuck for a while.
“I’ll… go… walk around, I just need some air… be right back.” Chuck sighed and got off the car.
“Ok…” I answered as David smiled.
“So… what are you planning to do, today, after school?”
“I… don’t know, probably just go home and stay there…”
“Oh… I wish I could stay to hang out with you here…” He pouted, he’s so cute.
“Yeah… me too.”
“Well, all I want to say is… I just…” He sighed. “Can you please… not forget me?” Is he serious? How can I possibly forget him!? “I just…” He sighed again. “Please…” He looked into my eyes.
“I-How…? How do you expect me to… forget you!?” I exclaimed. He blushed ginning. “You silly …” I giggled. “Of course, I won’t forget you. Ever…” I smiled, he smirked. The car’s door opened. I sat straight as Chuck got in and sat on the driver’s seat.
“Well… it’s 7:20… and the man out there is calling you… he your dad?” I looked outside the window. My history teacher, Mr. Frank stared into the car with his big black backpack on his back like always…
“Oh, I wish…” I giggled. “No, he’s my history teacher; I guess I have to go…” I went sad and looked at David. He smiled weakly.
“I’ll miss you…” He hugged me tightly and I hugged him back, I closed my eyes and held on to him for one last time…
“Azelia…” The teach insisted.
“You got to go…” David let go off me, I then hugged Chuck, tightly again.
“I’ll miss you too. Be good and have fun, I promise we’ll catch up again. ‘Kay?” He whispered into my ear.
“Sure.” I pulled away and smiled weakly, I got off the car. “Tell the guys, I’ll miss them too…” I remembered ‘em. “Please.” I smiled weakly again and walked a few steps back and waited for the car to go away.
Chuck looked at my teacher, Mr. Frank nodded, Chuck did the same and drove away. David watched me as I watched him, until we lost each others views. I stared behind the car.
“Azelia, it’s getting late…” I looked up at my friendly teacher.
“Yeah…” I walked were he was, it was the distance of were the car had been.
“Where those family or something?” He asked curiously.
“Friends…”
“They’re too old, don’t you think?”
“Nah. You aren’t old to me…” He was 32, and he was pretty cool, I don’t think people are old until they’re 50’s, 40 something… He chuckled.
“Thanks. Hah.” I smiled. We started walking then towards school, I stared at the floor as I walked. “Be careful!” He pulled me back as a car sped up in front of us, my backpack’s weight made me fall (yes, I had my English book with me.). He instantly helped me up. “I’m sorry.” Sorry? He stared angrily after the car.
“You’re sorry for saving my life… yeah… I guess I forgive you…” I joked, but my heart sped as the fear disappeared slowly. He laughed the way he always does and it calmed me down.
“But, are you ok?” He said as he walked me to the sidewalk.
“I’m alright, thanks.”
“Good. C’mon, we’re late for class!” We went faster as we entered the first gates, then the glass door and walked to our left at the end of the hall, the gym was there; our group stands there, since they couldn’t go to the class room until the teacher got there. Oh! Yeah! My first class today’s history, great! Maybe I’ll get so into the class I’ll forget… Doubt it… anyway.
“Hey, Azelia, why hadn’t you come?” Ruth demanded for an answer as I walked behind her. I wasn’t in the mood to deal with her now, sometimes I like her, but sometimes she’s just annoying as hell.
“Yeah! Why!?” Alexandra’s screechy annoying voice screamed demanding, imitating whatever Ruth did. I can’t stand her…
“Hey, calm down there. Does she have to tell you every detail of her life?” Mr. Frank to the rescue! I giggled to myself.
“Yes she does!” Ruth snapped but immediately regretted it and started giggling. Mr. Frank acted surprised after Ruth’s 'rebel' tone. Every teacher thought she was just a smart kid with no misbehaving, which made her think she could never get bad grades or misbehaving reports, but Mr. Frank knew she wasn’t, he likes making her argue, which I love to do too, she was always offended when Mr. Frank demanded for an explanation of her few 'rebel' times, he was kidding of course, but which was funny, she always thought it was serious, that’s her problem she never gets it when it’s a joke… he even made the historic event! “Ruth’s Revelation, on September the 20th”
“Oh ho. Sorry Mrs… I didn’t know you were the chief here…” He chuckled, as Ruth started to apologize. I giggled a few times more and went back to my numb self.
We got to the class; I automatically took my stuff and got a seat. Someone put his/her hands on my shoulders, no one else, but Sergio.
“Hey Alice. Why hadn’t you come?” Again with that.
“I’m not Alice.”
“I’m just playing, you know it! So… why?” ugh…
“Long story, you won’t believe.” I sat down on my place.
“Ok.” He walked to his place as the teacher got his stuff ready.
“Why didn’t you come?” Cristian asked.
“Oh hell! Is everybody going to ask me the same thing!?”
“Uh… yeah. Why?” He’s your best friend, you can kill him… I kicked him innocently.
“Ouch! That hurt.”
“It was meant to…”
“Yeah… why?” He laughed.
“I’ll tell you later.”
“Ok, but you’ll tell me!”
“Sure, sure.”
I moved my head as in pity for the few brains the guy seemed to have… but he was actually really intelligent, after getting to know him, it was kind of hard-understanding though… I put my chin on my left fist, my fingers covering my lips. Kids around me talked and laughed. The teacher sat there staring around, then he stared at me, I stared back.
“We’re just waiting for you, Azelia.” Sarcasm worked, the kids slowed their talking until there was silence. “Do I have your permission to start the class?” He asked me as the rest waited for him to start.
“Of course.” I answered with a weak smile.
“Alright.” He opened the book, and went to the board.
He started the class; he talked about Mayans and other Mesoamerican cultures. I couldn’t concentrate much…
The class went by fast. The teacher stood up and made his’ way to the door. “Bye Azelia.” He touched my shoulder as he passed my chair.
“Bye, teach.” I answered and kept thinking about what happened all that time I had spent with Simple Plan
*3 hours later*
I stood up as the bell rang. I walked straight to the patio, staring at the floor all the time.
“Azeliaaa!” Oksana and Valeria exclaimed as they hugged me, I smiled, or at least I tried.
“Hey…”
Thanks for reading! I hope you like it!
Have a nice day!
“David!” I smiled almost jumping out of my seat.
“Hey!” He grinned and kissed my cheek.
“What are you doing here!?” I said excitedly.
“I came to see you.” I smiled and blushed. He grinned back at me.
