Description of a Lily
Lily
Lily stretched her arm above her head, her muscles movement awakening her like a ringing alarm clock. She rubbed her eyes gently and felt her eyelashes crunch against her skin. Her hand was streaked with mascara and her smudged blue eyeliner. She moved her foot awkwardly to discover she was still wearing her heels. Sitting up gently she groaned as her body tried to resist moving.
She moved her weight so that she was half upright and leaning on her arms. Her purple party dress was crumpled from being slept in and although she was wearing tights she felt the bitter breeze swim across her legs. Abruptly she noticed she had been sleeping next to a lake. It stretched to the horizon, still and silent as her surroundings. Lily realised that there was no-one else in sight. She was alone with only the lake as her companion. She got to her feet unsteadily and inspected her surroundings. A leaf fell slowly from a nearby tree, landing on the water and creating ripples that danced gracefully on the surface. She cautiously approached the lake and sat near its edge. She dipped her hand into the water, the cold biting her hand. She pulled her hand out and stared at her reflection on the surface of the lake. Her hair surprisingly looked stylish. It was a ‘just got out of bed’ kind of look which suited her smudged eye make and crumpled dress.
Wondering how she’d got here Lily stood up once more and attempted to walk around. Her feet ached slightly but her curiosity made her stumble on. She rested for a moment against a large statue which she couldn’t recall being there a moment ago. It was just her mind she thought and continued to hug it tightly to balance herself. She heard a sudden noise and squinted into the morning sun to be amazed.
