Diary of Jane

1

December 30th, 1990 11:30pm.

"Dan! Daniel wake up.'" She shook her sleeping husband awake.
"Huh? What is it dear?" He sat up quickly and rubbed the sleep from his eyes.
"It's the baby, he's coming!" She shrieked. She doubled over in pain as a severe contraction raged through her body. Daniel jumped out of bed and pulled on the clothing he had worn the day before. He rushed over and lifted his crying wife from the bed and pushed his way out of the room.
"Don't worry honey, we're leaving the hospital now and i'll call your parents when we get to the hospital!" He rushed out of the house and hurriedly strapped in his wife. He then ran to the other side, climbed into the small Taurus and sped out of the driveway.'Labor lasts for over an hour generally right?' He thought while buckling his seatbelt. It was a two hour ride from their house to the hospital, that didn't count the stops at the streetlights and signs. He drove through three lights and tore down the empty rode before him. He ignored the screaming sirens that pierced the night as the police took chase behind him. He could see the hospital now. He eased down on the brakes and he sharply entered the hospitals parking lot.
"We're hear baby, everything is going to be fine." He spoke gently to his sobbing wife. He exited the car in time to see four police cars pulling in beside him. He ignored them and instead rushed to his wifes side.
"Danny, I think something's wrong! He isn't moving!" She gasped. He brushed the sweat soaked bangs from her forehead.
"Don't worry Janie, the doctors are going to take care of him and make sure he's alright." He hoisted her into his arms, sidestepped the officers and walked as quickly as he could into the emergency room. The nurses immediately took action and pulled a stretcher over to them. Jane was hooked up with oxygen while she was en route to the operation room.
"Sir, i'm afraid you're going to have to wait out here. We'll come get you when the baby has been delivered." The head nurse said the him. The busy rooms door closed before he could utter a single word.
Funny, how this is exactly how my birth came along as well.
