Half In Love

Release Me From My Troubles, You Know How.

As we left the group of Audrey's friends I noticed the Derrick person glaring after us with narrowed eyes. It was understandable for him to be cautious of his girlfriend. Especially if she was offering to get some air with a complete stranger. Smiling uneasily at him I carried on moving, my fingers were clasped around Audrey's skinny wrist as we moved further away from the pounding rhythm and closer towards the doors. I felt bodies press against us as we made our escape.

Dragging my new friend along with me towards the back door I noticed she was struggling to keep up with my long legged pace. I slowed myself down as we finally reached the exit. We pushed past a couple of people together then finally teetered outside uneasily. The cold welcomed us with an icy slap in the face. An exhale of rushed oxygen escaped my lips as I moved down the concrete steps, letting go of Champ Audrey's hand I let my own drop to my side. Two people were stood in the shadows wrestling one another's tongues. I dropped my gaze also as we moved towards a street light. This was the only source of light in the dim alley. Audrey and I stood in the middle of the yellow pool of light, huddling closer together until our clouds of breath became one instead of two.

Her eyes mingled with sparkles as she gazed up at me. I wanted to kiss her so bad, knowing from the look in her eyes that she wanted it too. But she didn't really. She was just drunk. I just couldn't help myself though. I was probably a bit confused right now from Elizabeth and other things too. So I don't think I could have helped myself. Everything became quiet then, as I tilted my head down, and Audrey reached up on her tip toes. Finally, I felt like nothing was wrong, like every problem I had ever had was gone. Our lips were connected and we were happy, I could feel her smile into the strange kiss as her arms found my neck. My own hands trailed around her waist.

Then it stopped. A heavy fist collided with the back of my head. Then I knew I was caught, the problems were back and Audrey's boyfriend was stood behind me, ready to crush me into pulp. Turning, however I came upon a different view. A tall, thug like male was stood in front of me. Racking my mind, I wondered if I knew him. Nothing came up until I saw Elizabeth standing in the background with a grim smile on her face. He was the guy Elizabeth had run off with. I couldn't get my mind around why I was getting hurt.

The next thing I knew a sharp blow collided with my face. I stumbled backwards, panic taking over, I was about to run like the weakling I was when I remembered Audrey standing behind me. Her eyes were partially glazed over and she was frozen to the spot. I was facing her now, stupidly turning my back on the attacker. A fat fist grabbed my shoulder and spun me around. I felt like a ballerina from all this twirling, but I couldn't be amused at this as a punch connected with my cheek. A warm oozing sensation rolled out of my nose and into my mouth. I went to open my mouth, but Audrey got there first and screamed. Her friend, Derrick came running. His eyes were raging with pure fury until he saw what was happening. They then became clouded over in confusion. Audrey ran over to him and explained. Elizabeth put her foot in then.
"Leave him alone Bruce, hes learnt his lesson," she pulled 'Bruce' away as I fell to my knees.

The other two people dropped to their knees and dabbed my nose.
"I'm fine," I gurgled. They both laughed. Looking at Audrey with pleading eyes, I asked the question I had wanted to ask all night.
"Can I have your number?"
The ending is a bit goofy. But thats Ash :D
I loved writing this chapter. :)
