Half In Love

What's the Meaning of This?

Audrey's P.O.V.

Oh! Come over and sit with us then, my own voice rung in my head, repeating itself over and over.

I don't know why, but I had asked the waiter - who I discovered that his name is Ash - to come hang out with us. He seems like he needed it, after who knows what kind of a night he's had working here.

Especially with that blonde girl.

I sat there and waited as he disappeared behind a small hallway. I couldn't help but feel like I either sounded desperate or too demanding, since he didn't seem to sure of his answer - as if he had no other choice. I had thought that he seemed intrested, but then again, it's his words against mine; he could've easily declined.

Not a moment later, he re-appeared without his uniform waist coat. A pair of sunglasses sat upon his head and his body cladded in regular clothes. I wasted no time in standing up and pushing my way through the crowd. I didn't slow nor stop to see whether he was still behind me or not. I made the short journey over to my group where they had once again, gathered around an area at the bar.

"Hi guys!" I felt my jelly arms wrap around Chelsie's neck, leaning into her from where she sat on the stool closest to me. She laughed and hugged me back from around my waist. I could sense what I guessed was Ash's body closely behind me, since everyone was staring at my general direction. I stepped back and partially turned towards him. "This is Ash," I introduced him, and began to point to everyone individually, "And this is Chelsie, Carrie, Derrick, Patrick, and Whitney."

He smiled and waved to them all, a blush coming to his tanned cheeks. Everyone greeted him with a warm welcome and resumed back to the conversation that they were in. He stood there to himself and I could tell that it was awkward for him. Not to mention, he looked tired - both physically and of the club atmosphere.

I took Chelsie's glass of wine out of her hand and took several gulps, fanning my face once I had placed it back into her hand. The room was getting awfully hot and musky, making it hard to breathe and move. I was beginning to sweat - along with everyone else - making my bangs become matted and unruly.

I grabbed Ash's arm. "Hey, you wanna go outside for some air?"

He nodded. "Y-Yeah." He was a bit more upbeat, and took his part in leading the way, taking my by the arm so that I could keep up with him. The palm of his hand was smooth, his fingertips rouch. They wrapped around the perimeter of my wrist easily.

My heart sped up and I struggled to keep up with him, determined not to let his grip slip away.
I actually updated in time! I'm sorry for the shortness of this chapter... but the stop was needed right there.
