Just Another Chance

Something wet soaked through my clothes, and I sat in an upright position and glared at Pansy, who was bent over in laughter. I waited till she was done as I got into my bag and got the pudding cup I had in there for pranks. She sat up and smoothed out the wrinkles on her shirt while I tore the plastic off the snack. She looked up with a smirk, but flinched back at how close I was to her.

"Hi Pansy, you think soaking me with juice was funny?" I asked, my free hand balling up into a fist.

"Eh, you were sleeping and I was bored. And yeah, pretty funny."

I nodded and pretended to move away. But then I turned around with my arm over her head and then I smashed the cup on her head, and watched the pudding drip down her head and onto her face. "Good, because I think pudding looks pretty hilarious on you."

Draco came in talking to Crabbe and Goyle and then he froze upon seeing me covered in juice, and seeing Pansy as a pudding snack. "Pansy what did you do," he yelled, instantly putting the blame on her. I smirked, and moved away from Pansy and went to stand by Draco's side.

"I'll tell you what she did since she won't speak as fast. She thought it would be funny to soak me in grape juice while I slept. So I decided while she was laughing that pudding would be hilarious on her."

Crabbe snickered and Goyle bit back his laughter and tried to keep a straight face. Draco shook his head, "Unbelievable Pansy, you better not have gotten my cloak soaked."

"Most likely she did." I muttered. "Where did you go?"

"To go see who your sister was sitting with."

I rolled my eyes. "Weasley?"

"Worse, Potter and Weasley." he paused. "And she threatened me with jinx spells that your mother taught her."

I turned to look at him. "What! Which compartment?" I stormed out of the compartment after Draco told me which one. I yanked open the door and narrowed my eyes at my sister.

She looked up at me from laughing with Weasley and her eyes widened. "What do you think your doing," I hissed, slamming the door shut.

"What I'm doing is sitting with my friends."

"Friends with Potter!" I said, making a sarcastic laugh, "You asking for a death wish from Father?"

This seemed to make her face pale and replace the laughter in her eyes with fear. "You wouldn't tell him."

"And more importantly threatening a family friend, you are certainly going to loose going to school at Hogwarts if you keep this attitude up."

"Who is that," Potter asked, referring to me.

"I am Evangeline Knight, older sister of this misbehaving mistake." I turned my attention back to her. "I won't spill the beans this time, but you screw up again, and you'll wish you hadn't."

Before Matilda could open her mouth, the door opened and a girl stepped in. "Have any of you seen a toad?"

"Get out of my way," I growled, pushing past her.

"What's your problem," the girl asked, with an offended tone.

I turned to stare at her. "It's none of your business."

"Pay no attention to her. She's just an over dramatic fool," Matilda commented, which made me walk back over to her.

I lowered myself to her eye level, "At least I'm not a nobody."

I got up and left the compartment and headed back to my own. Pansy was sitting on Draco's lap and that immediately changed after I walked in with a look to kill. She hopped back to her seat and stared out the trains window without another glance.

"Evangeline?" Draco asked quietly.

I held up my hand, and tried to breath in and out slowly. I tried to calm myself down inside but Matilda just made me so angry that sometimes I wanted to hit the wall. "Your dad is going to love the fact with who shes hanging out with," Pansy mumbled.

"Shut up Pansy." I growled, shooting her another look. She caught this one and looked away quickly.

"Isn't he going to take it out on you if he finds out?" Crabbe muttered in concern.

"More than that, a beating I'll never forget." I mumbled, trying to regain calmness.

"Which is why nobody is going to say a thing," Draco said, getting up, wrapping his arms around me in a tight hug.

"Right," Goyle said, "There's only one person we need to worry about. Cause she does intend to run her mouth purposely."

"If your talking about me-" Pansy began but then she stopped when Draco turned to glare at her.

"Pansy, so help me if you breath a word to anyone that might tell Darius, you'll regret it." he threatened, his look meaningful.

He guided me over to the seat and I sat down with my head in my hands with my elbows resting on my legs. He rubbed my back as I tried to work through counting. "I'm going to have to tell him what mother taught her though."

"I'll do it if it makes your life easier," Draco said, offering to get ripped by my father.

"Nah, I think I can handle this one, I'll wait until after placement, that way I can tell him what house I'm in."

"You'll be a Slytherine, just like the rest of us."

Professor McGonagall stood talking to us, giving us the big welcome speech and blah, blah, blah. She then moved on that the sorting ceremony would began in a few minutes and that she would be back in a second.

I waited patiently for her to come to retrieve us as I stood between Crabbe and Goyle, them paying attention as much as I did. Neville cried out with joy when he found his toad and then that's when the Professor came back and brought us into the Great Hall. She told us to form a line. I glanced around seeing thousands of lit candles floating in mid air. As we stood in front of the teachers table where a small chair was also placed, I looked up at the ceiling to notice the starry looking sky above. It was an enchanted ceiling obviously.

I watched as the Professor placed at wizards hat on the stool and then the hat twitched and then there was a rip near the brim like it was a mouth. Suddenly a song burst out of the hat as it started to sing. I ignored the song and patiently waited and stared around the room at the House Flag emblems all around the room. The song finished and then the placement began. After ten minutes it was finally in near my turn.

I stood beside of Draco and waited patiently for my name to be called. Mine was called eventually and I stepped out of the formed line and took my seat on the stool. She placed the hat above my head and then sat it on my head. At the time, I was thinking how many heads the hat sat on. But my thoughts were interrupted with the hats muttering.

"Hm, aren't you a sly manipulative little cunning girl. Graceful. And Smart too. Hm, where to place your powerful and fierce self. Greatness is what you stride for. Based on your family's history you need to go in...SLYTHERINE!"

Cheers errupted from the table laced in green table clothery. I headed towards it with a grin on my face. I took my seat as a few students patted my back with a few congratulations, then I turned my attention to where my sister sat on the stool. I waited as the hat sat there and decided where to place her.
