MUW: Test

Run. Jump. And I was off, in the blue sky and overlooking grassy plains. The wind was in my hair and the sun was beating down on me. Perfect, warm, it was an explosive feeling. I hadn’t felt like this since the time I had gone on the picnic with everyone. It almost felt like I was really flying! Oh wait, I was flying…
I toyed with the straps they had put on me, the pack seemed a lot heavier in the air. I had no idea what was in it though, they only told me that I would know what it was when I got there and if I didn’t, I would have to find out.
I hoped the next checkpoint wasn’t too far away. I asked them where and what it was before I left, they only chuckled and told me there would be a lot of trees. They said there would be lots of trees, grass, and dirt; that’s what they told me. I would have asked more about it but my shift might’ve been increased. After all, I was only a test subject and test subjects don’t ask questions.
How long have I been in the air? I would guess maybe 2 or 3 hours. I won’t be able to keep this up for long; I won’t be able to stay in the air. Maybe 2 or 3 hours more, I’m probably already half-way there.
For the next hour or two, I kept myself entertained by counting all the blue cars I could see. By the third hour or so, I had started to fly over a forest and I was exhausted. I could feel the muscles in my arms straining and cramping up. The heavy pack wasn’t helping me much either. Then finally, I saw it. The red flares that were going up, signaling the checkpoint. They must have known I was coming from my GPS tracking chip. I flew over to where the flares had gone up and saw it was a forest clearing. I tucked in and dived, only to bring myself back up at the last second so I could gently land on my feet.
I looked around to try and find someone, the one who had put up the flares. I didn’t see anyone so I continued my search but still failed to find any of the supervisors. Something was wrong, either that or different. This was only my fourth Exploration but the supervisors were always there waiting for me at the rendezvous points.
A quick two-meter scan around the checkpoint revealed my fear. There was no one here. Maybe this could be a test. Maybe I was supposed to find them this time. Then, I remembered the pack. I had taken it off because of its bulk but I remember what I was told. Something that would help me find the supervisors was in the pack. I knew that’s what it had to be. I ran back to where I had but the pack. I had put it up in the branches of an oak tree so animals couldn’t get to it. I climbed up the tree as fast as I could and opened it quickly.
I was partially right; this was probably a test. The contents of the pack showed no indication that I had to find the supervisors though. The pack had held camping supplies. The items in the pack suggested that I was going camping. A tent, flashlight, sleeping bag, freeze-dried food, a mess kit, a first aid kit, flint stone, a change of clothes. And then the realization hit me; I would be camping in this forest, in this clearing, by myself, until who knows when…
Hey! I want to hear what you guys thought the story was about. Can you put "MUW 3 Plot" at the top of your comment and answer some of these questions? Like what the main character was using to fly (Wings, hangglider, ect.), What was the main character a test subject of? What did you think was in the pack? How old do you think the main character is? And why would the main character be camping as a test? What do you think happened to the main character while she was camping? Please feel free to comment about anything else about the story. ^^
Comment & Rate, please and thank you!!
