MUW: Agent C1

I followed behind Agent C1 down a hallway. It would've looked like any regular old office if only the walls weren’t metallic and everyone there weren’t spies. Or people who worked with spies in some sort of way. “Where are we going again?” I hesitantly asked. In the last five minutes that I’ve know her, I’ve learned that she does not deal well with other human beings. In other words, she’s not a people person. She only kept walking, ignoring my question.
The odd thing was no one greeted her; they didn’t even give an acknowledging nod. Everyone here seemed like friendly people. There were a few curious stares at me but it wasn’t the rude kind. Like I told you before, Agent C1 is probably not a people person but she had to be at least familiar with her coworkers. We rounded the corner and she opened a door. She stepped into what looked like another hallway. I was beginning to think this place was actually a maze.
It was uncomfortable, walking with another person without conversation. It was awkward. Here is an example: the teacher sends you and another kid on an errand and you get nervous because you don’t know the other kid too well. The two of you make pathetic small talk at least. I had to think of something to say. I looked up at C1 and saw she showed no uncomfortable facial expression. In fact, she showed no facial expression at all. She almost looked bored. I replayed everything the director told me about The Organization. How things work, who does what, how names are given. Then, I thought about Agent C1’s name. I know that the letter stands for a word and words are like sectors, they specialize in certain things. The number represents rank. She must have been the best at whatever sector she specialized. “So, uh, what does C1 stand for?” There goes my pathetic attempt at small talk.
“Catastrophic: Rank 1,” she replied. Wow, she answered, but Catastrophic? That is not a name that I’d like to be given. I got curious, what could Catastrophics possibly specialize?
“What do you specialize in?” I asked. That must have been the last straw because she whipped around and stopped. I almost ran into her.
“Caleb was it?” she asked.
“Yea…?”
“Well, I’ll answer your question. If I know enough about a person, I know how to rip their souls apart. I know how to bring back haunting memories, their guilt, and weakness, anything that can be used against them,” her tone was could recreate the Ice Age and her gaze could probably melt it in 2 seconds. No wonder no one talked to her.
“So I suggest you don’t talk to me, you don’t mess. In fact, just don’t get involved with me,” she warned. Agent C1 turned back around a kept walking to who-knows-where. Note to self: Do not provoke Agent C1.
We had arrived to our destination; it was a spacious room with books lining the walls. The whole back wall was like a huge glass window and in front of it was a desk. A man in a black and gray suit sat there. The big name plaque on his desk read said Adam Soray. “Agent C1 and Caleb, nice to have you both here,” he started, “As you know, the mission: Dawn Song has been put on suspension.” I vaguely remember the director telling me about this.
“Well, Dawn Song has been reactivated and both of you will be assigned,” said Mr. Soray. Wait, both of us? I just stood there, wide-eyed and caught off guard. I would be going on a mission!? This didn’t make any sense.
I guess C1 was just as surprised because the next thing she said was, “Excuse me? Chairman Soray, you are aware that I only do solo missions.”
“Yes, yes, I am aware of that but the continuation of this mission requires you and Caleb.”
Me? Why does this mission need me? C1 turned and glared at me. From her point of view, this was entirely fault, so much for not getting involved with Agent C1…
