Living While Dead

chapter 2: a new friendship

The next day when Aeron and his brother went to school, I looked through their rooms. it was summer when they came so they were in their rooms too much for me to snoop around. i started with Toby's room, it was messy like any 11 year old kids room would be. Toby had neat collection of dragon sculptures all over his room. i looked through some of his books and found a ghost book about this very town! They explained newer mysteries and paranormal activity that was happening in the town. Then, on page 23 words read:

THE 26TH STREET MURDER
On October 14, 1926, 14 year old Amelia Penton was murdered by an unknown suspect.
she was found with fatal wounds to the head and neck. legend has it, that her soul is
still on this earth, wondering her old home. many attempts have been made to help
this innocent soul cross over, but paranormal investigators have said that they have
had no such luck helping her cross over.

i set the book back on the shelf, and exited the room crying. i walked into Aeron's room and wiped a tear from my face. i started to look around when a picture caught my eye. it wasset on his dresser in a frame, it was a photograph of a young girl, her mother, and her father. i looked at the black and white picture again, and noticed that it was me and my parents! next to the picture, i found a note that said:
Amelia,
i found this under a creaky floorboard, i recognized you and
guessed the others were your parents. so, i got a frame to put
it in so you could remember the good times you had in your
life. enjoy!
-Aeron
i couldnt wait to thank Aeron for the picture. he got home with his brother off the bus while i waited for them on the steps.
Toby ran inside but Aeron sat next to me on the step. i smiled and went to give him a hug. but i fell right through him! he smiled and laughed "so you like your present?"
"i love it! i completely forgot about that picture, you have no idea how much this means to me."
"im glad you like it. lets go inside." he replied. we stood up together and walked into the house.
we walked to his room and talked about what we did that day. he didnt especially like school. all the other kids were mean to him and pushed him around. "enough with now, what was life like when you were living?" he asked.
"times were tough, we used what was available to us, and improvised things that werent. i had the same troubles that you do, kids at school picked on me because of my clothes. one day a girl came to me and said "you are nothing, you are meaningless to the world and everyone on it." that day was the day i gave Clarabelle McFinn a black eye. i got kicked out of school and went home. those were the last words she said to me, because that was the same day i died."
"McFinn?"
"yes why?"
"Thomas McFinn was the one giving me a hard time today. her nephew i think. he called me a piece of crap that nobody cares about. so, shes not the only McFinn that got a black eye!"
"haha good for you. i wish i could go back to school again. it gets so lonely when im the only one here during the day. id give anything to be alive! i could hang out with you at school and go to the park and museums together! being a ghost sucks."
"i have an idea. are ghosts able to leave their haunting grounds?" Aeron asked.
"yes, as long as we dont cross water." i answered
"then lets take a stroll to the city."

a little shorter than chapter 1 but i still hope ya like it! Enjoy!
