Welcome To Something New

The Last Thing I Though I Would Have Found

Have you ever had that feeling that you knew someone in a past life? Like déjà vu except it was more of a gut feeling. Something you already knew the answer to, but questioned it for your sanity. That’s how it felt when I met her. Out of all the people in the world, it felt like I had finally found the girl of my dreams. As cliché as it sounds, it was the best day of my life. It had felt as though I had been waiting my whole life-hell-all my past lives to be with her. I just knew that she was the one for me. Life as I knew it was changed. Everything I thought I knew was wrong.

The day I saw her, my heart skipped a beat. My heart never skipped a beat. I, Grayson Quinn Daniels, never blushed, fell or loved any girl. I was the guy who made girls blush, not the other way around. Yet when I saw her, it all changed. My face felt hot, and I knew that I had fallen in love with her. She had been sitting there by herself; eyes close, kneeing in what looked like a praying pose. She wore a crisp white skirt; I assumed it was a bit longer then knee length by the way it was spread around her. She wore a matching white shirt that had silky ribbons through the front, while the sleeves of the shirt were slightly see through. Her pale exposed skin made her glow, and I suddenly had the urge to touch her.

Every day that I've lived
I didn't know that I was waiting for you
And out of no where you where there
Destructing all I knew

I'm down on my knees
With one thing to ask
I'm begging you please to say yes
Welcome to something new
Where two lives are joined to make one
She said yes and the best of my endless life is to come

Her pink lips moved silently, as if telling someone a secret that weren’t for my ears. I smiled despite the fact that there was a weird girl praying in a cave. She hadn’t noticed me and I didn’t mind. It let me get to see her more, without her thinking I was some creepy guy. Her marvellous chestnut hair blew softly as the wind picked up. Her fair face has a slight tint of pink to the cheeks, and it was easy to see against her pallid skin.

I didn’t know what she was doing here since I thought I was the only one who knew about this cave. It just over looked the ocean and only took me ten minutes to get here from my house. In all the years I’d come here, there had only been me. It had been my thinking spot. I slowly lost myself in the questions that came into my head as I stared at her. I remember seeing the water seep in through the huge opening like it always did. I saw the water slowly making a trail towards her and I wondered if she felt it. I could see it had touched her skin, through her skirt and envied the water.

I must’ve made a noise with my feet since she turned suddenly, her eyes wide open to reveal a wonderful shade of green. Her body suddenly got defensive and she narrowed her eyes on me. “Who are you?” Her tone was curious but held caution.

I blinked slowly and licked my lips. That moment I felt my cheeks turn red. “I-” my voice cracked and I knew my face was now as red as a tomato. “I’m Quinn,” I cleared my throat and flashed a sheepish smile. “This is sorta my cave.”

A surprised look passed on her pretty face; it was quickly replaced with a tiny smirk. “What is your name on it?” The tone was carefree and light but at the same time mocking.

I laughed and nodded. “Actually it is.” I walked forward and pointed just past her head to the wall of the cave. Sure enough, it was there, in messy handwriting written in black paint.

Grayson Quinn Daniels

“Oh.” Her voice rang through out the small cave.

“I wrote it there when I was 12.” I mused as I sat next to her.

A scowl flashed over her face as she relaxed beside me. For a moment it was silent; all that could be heard was the waves crashing on the shore below. “I’m Aurora.” She turned to me and flashed a smile so bright and warm.

I smiled back and met her gaze. “It’s nice to meet you, Aurora.”

Hey, listen to the sound
Of my feet leaving the ground
Hey, love is the last thing that I thought I would have found

Every breath that I take
I want to breathe you in
Your smile is so bright that it feels like the sun
Shinning on my skin

---------------------

That was two years ago, when we were eighteen; meaning we were twenty now. I had called her and told her to meet me at the cave tonight. I told her to wear the white skirt and shirt she had worn when we had first met. I was wearing a button down shirt and a pair of slacks. I never wore things like this, not unless I was forced. But today I had slipped it on without complaining. I could hear footsteps making their way to the cave and I let out a nervous sigh. As she entered the cave she called out, “Quinn?”

“Over here,” I called with a smile. Once she reached me she raised her brows questioningly at me. She never could raise just one and it was cute to see her try.

“Did I ever tell you, that you were the first girl to make me blush?” I paused and looked at her. “I wasn’t expecting to come here and see you sitting there. I was expecting to find love, but I did.” I smiled and dropped slowly to knee. “Marry me?” I took her hand in mine and said nothing else. Gazing up at her, letting my eyes tell her how I felt. My other hand held a small gold ring with a sparkling diamond in it. The moon’s rays caught it and it sparkled in my fingers.

The silence in the cave was beginning to kill me. She finally nodded, as a tear slipped from her eye. I slipped the ring on her finger and I rose up to her. I wrapped my arms around her and I rested my forehead on hers. I smiled crookedly at her and slowly let my lips press against her.

“You were the last thing I though I would have found,” I murmured against her lips, holding her closer.

“You took the words right out of my mouth.” She smiled up at me and I couldn’t help but smile back.

Well here it was.
I know it's cliche and mushy, but I couldn't help myself.
