A Whole New Beginning

“A cup of coffee please.”, the man shouted at her.
“He’s a total jackass…”, she thinks to herself and serves him a cup of coffee, with a big fake smile on her lips and says:
“Hope you like it, sir.”, and then she walks away.
She goes behind the serving desk and sits down right next to a hyper active man who obviously had far too much coffee.
“I’ve got it! I’ve really got it this time, hah, in your face outlaw government!”
She just gives him a tired look and puts a hand on his shoulder.
He looks terrified and stares into her blue eyes and then she says to him:
“Sure you have, you always have, dear.”, then she wonders off and starts looking for costumers.
The man she served a cup of coffee smiles when she passes his table, she thinks to herself that this man is a total jerk.
When she notices that there aren’t any more orders, she goes behind the desk again to think, but she can’t, because of the hyperactive man.
Then it all comes out. She looks right into the hyper active man’s eyes and shouts:
“Would you just get lost?! Leave me alone for a second, I don’t want to hear what you found out, so just keep your mouth shut!”, she slams her fist into the desk and the man gets so scared he falls off the chair.
Every single person in the café stares at her and then she starts to cry, low at first, but then she screams it out with tears running down her cheeks.
She hides under the desk to get away from everything, but she can still hear the people talking about what just happened.
Then she hears a voice, it’s the voice of the man she served the latest cup of coffee and she hears his words and starts crying again:
“Come on, people, give the girl a break. She’s young, her life just started, shut up and return to your boring lives, please, will you?”
“Maybe he wasn’t such a big jerk after all.”, she thinks to herself and laughs quietly.
The man goes around the desk and sits down next to her and starts talking to get her to feel better.
“There, there, kiddo.” he smiles. ”Don’t be sad, there are too much sadness in this world already, I don’t want you to be just another miserable girl who can’t do anything just because she wont let herself o try.”
She thinks the man’s words really makes her feel better, then she wipes her tears away and smiles at him
Nick looks at the crying girl and takes his arms around her.
He can’t help noticing that she looks familiar to him, as if he has seen her somewhere else, some other time.
“I recognize that smile, I know that I’ve seen it somewhere before!”
The girl smiles at him, obviously feeling better, and he smiles back at her.
He still has his arms around her when she stops crying, and he isn’t aware of the fact that she tries to pull them away, he just holds her.
Then he finally let’s go of her and just sits back and looks at her.
He is sure now, he has seen her somewhere before. But she has very much make-up on so she has changed, of course.
But even though her face was changed with make-up he was absolutely certain that he had seen that face before.
He makes a quick decision and opens his mouth to ask her what her name is but she stops him and says:
“Yes, I am the girl you saw at the hospital, I saw you behind that plant. That wasn’t a good hiding place if I may say that”
Nick tries to say something but he can’t, he just looks at the girl in amazement.
The girl smiles at him and he just looks at her, he blushes but he really doesn’t know why.
Nick is stunned by her ability to, in some way, read peoples’ minds.
“How… How, did you know?”
The girl blushes and says:
“I thought you looked familiar and now when I heard your voice, I knew for sure that it was you.”
Nick looks at her, obviously confused and says:
“Why didn’t you say something to me, if you saw me behind that plant at the hospital?”
The girl laughs at him and then she says:
“Well, I thought you should have some fun too, I thought you looked so old and boring so I wanted you to have your share of fun, even if it involved crappy hiding, and even though you hid from me, I didn’t want to take your fun moment away from you.”
Mel looks at the man, and she can’t help that she laughs at his surprised look.
But she is a little annoyed by it too, it’s like, time stopped and she’s the only one who knows.
He just sits there for a few minutes with exact ally the same look at his face all the time.
She moves her hand in front of his eyes just as if he was a doll, and she wanted to see if he was alive.
Finally he shakes his head and looks at her as he doesn’t understand why she did that, and he says:
“Why did you do that with your hand?”
Mel smiles:
“Just because I was scared you were dead and I wanted to know if you were or not.”
Then they both starts laughing really hard and they rise and walk out of the café.
All the costumers scream at her to come back, but she just gives them the finger and says:
“You don’t order anything, anyway and tell the boss, when you see him, that I quit.”
