Love Me Tender

007

I had stayed home from school today in order to feed. I didn't mind missing but school kept my mind occupied even though I had way more of an extended mind of knowledge then any ordinary person. But it helped to distract me from thinking about Jasper.

When could I get over him? I asked myself, moving swiftly between the trees. I landed on a big boulder and sat on top of it perched like a tiger. I stared at the green mossy floor of the forest. Was it possible that I could even move forward without him?

I shook my head. Yes, it has to be. Nobody said it would be easy. But it needs to be done. If not, then I couldn't live with my family any longer.

I leaped off the boulder and took off into another sprint. I kept running until I found the cliff's edge where I loved to sit and go through my thought processing. I dangled my feet off the edge and stared down into the waters below.

What was the part of Jasper that was holding onto my heart? Maybe if I could answer this, it would help to walk away from him. I loved everything about him, so if I could just hate him then it would be easy just to let go. Was it how he paid attention to me that night and was interested in my life. Was it how we talked endlessly for a few hours about our lives, both very curious about each other? What was it?

I don't think there was a specific thing that held me. Maybe it was everything about Jasper. I closed my eyes as the wind played with my hair causing it to fly with its direction.

I picked up a hand sized rock and started to shape a form with it, crumbling pieces of the solid into dust. I wasn't paying attention to what my fingers were forming, I just stared out into the water until my hands finally came to a rest. I looked down to see a heart shaped rock.

What was love? Was it the feeling that made your heart stop meeting the eyes of the significant other, making you weak at the knees and allowing you to feel a small buzz in your chest? Was it the way how the significant other noticed you out of everybody else? How do we know that it even exists. There was no way to prove it's existence, only through claims of people and things around us.

Did I love Jasper?

My thoughts were broken by hearing Rosalie screaming at the top of her lungs. I took off without another thought and ran back to the house to find her walking while stabbing Edward in the chest with her finger. "Do you know what you have done!" she yelled. "You risked us all! You most likely exposed us and for what a pathetic weak human!"

"I had to save her!" Edward argued, his eyes burning into hers with rage. He took some safe steps back away from Rose. "If her blood had been spilled, the whole world would know our every existence!"

I blinked rapidly and watched as Rosalie took two quick strides toward him and got up into his face. "You exposed us to her, she saw you!"

"If she saw us then we can easily pick her off instead of the whole world!"

"Rosalie, he had to do what he had to do, it was for the better good of our family. Bella's blood is different from every other human he has encountered. Her blood is what he desires more than anything. If her blood would've been spilled, then we would've been fully exposed." Jasper explained, placing his hand on Rose's shoulder.

She jerked away. "Whatever." With that, she turned on heel and was gone in a second.

I was about to open my mouth and asked what I had missed, but Edward had already pulled me out of the house and into the garage. I got in the car, assuming we were going on a drive. I stared out the windshield as Edward got in, slamming his door shut with anger. He revved the engine and then squealed out of the garage and did a fast spin turning the car around onto the road.

I watched the house disappear in seconds. "I had to save her Ivory."

"What happened."

"Tyler and his damned van, that's what. He had no chains on his tires. He almost hit her. If he had, I would've exposed us to the world. I had to save her."

"Did she see you?"

He didn't answer. I watched him close his eyes and I knew he was going through the scenario all over again. "Yes."

"Are you sure?" I asked, not really concerned about Bella knowing.

"I'm absolutely positive she saw me. Her eyes locked onto me. She seen me." His grip on the wheel tightened causing his knuckles to turn white.

"Edward, I wouldn't worry about her knowing."

"What if she tells someone!" he shouted, glaring at me.

"I doubt that she will. Where are we going anyways."

My question was answered as we pulled into the parking lot to the hospital. We were going to go talk with Carsile. I got out of the car and kept pace with Edward into the building. We went up to Carsile's floor and waited as he came from being with a patient.

"Carsile, I need to talk to you," Edward murmured lowly.

"Would it be about the incident with Bella?"

"What makes you ask that?" he muttered in surprise.

"Bella told me that if it weren't for you that she would be in a far much worse condition than she is right now."

I moved away from those two and into the room that Carsile just came out of. I walked past Tyler who was hitting his head off his knees. I stopped in front of Bella's bed. She looked up from her hands and let her eyes bore into mine. "Lucky day today, huh?" I asked, sliding a chair in front of her bed.

"What are you guys," she barely whispered.

I raised my eyebrows. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Well, Bella, I do believe you might experience some headaches but other than that you'll be fine." Carsile came in, and I nodded slightly appreciating the timing.

She narrowed her eyes at me as she got off the bed. I followed Edward out of the room and down the hallway. Something grabbed our sleeves and I stopped and turned around. "How did you get over to me that fast."

"What are you talking about Bella, I was standing right beside of you the whole time. You must've hit your head pretty hard."

"No, you weren't. You were over at your car, standing there with your family. Then, you were in front of me, lifting the van up, preventing it from hitting me."

"Bella, you should go home and get some rest."

"Just tell me. I won't tell."

Edward's eyes met mine for a half a second before he replied. "There is nothing to tell, sorry to disappoint you."

We walked away and back out to the car. "See, she's not going to tell."

"Ivory, it's against the law."

"Like the Volturi would ever find out, I mean, come on, they live in Italy, we live in Forks, Washington."

"There are spies everywhere Ivory. They are always watching, waiting for us to mess up."

"Then, did you have to be so cold and heartless back there. All she wanted was answers to her questions."

"All my answers would again be against our law."

"That's why there is lies Edward, besides we tell each other everything. The truth and our secrets, never lies."

"Ivory, what does this-"

"-Don't lie to your sister, I will know when you are lying to me." I said, cutting him short with a playful stern face. "Edward, do you want her to know?"

He didn't reply.

"Edward?"

Nothing.

"Edward."

Silence.

"Edward-"

"-Yes! Damnit Ivory."

"Then, there's always a way to bend the rules." I said with a smirk, sitting back in my seat with a smug look on my face.
