Can't have you.
33.
Once Emily was ready and Kevin had put on his shirt, the couple left their apartment and down to Kevin’s jeep. They climbed into the car and Kevin drove for a little while, the whole time, Emily wasn’t really paying attention, just turning the small diamond ring round and round on her ring finger. When Kevin pulled up, Emily looked out of her window and gasped as she saw the sign of the restaurant, The Purple Lobster, the place they came on their first date.
“Kevin.” Emily said smiling.
“I know, it had to be done.” Kevin smiled.
“This is why I love you.” Emily said, lightly kissing Kevin.
As the couple stepped out the car, paparazzi pulled up and jumped out of their cars. Instantly they started taking pictures of the couple.
“Keily.” A few shouted, using Kevin and Emily’s couple named.
Emily just smiled and kept a good grip on Kevin’s hand so not to be separated from him. As they got into the restaurant, Emily sighed in relief.
“I am never going to get used to that.” Emily said, gently laughing.
“Neither will I, ive been around it longer than you too.” Kevin laughed.
Emily looked around the restaurant, and just like on their first date, the restaurant was completely empty.
“You done it again Kevin.” Emily said smiling.
“Don’t what?” Kevin asked, looking completely clueless.
“Pulled some strings.” Emily smiled, hugging Kevin.
“So I did.” He grinned, wrapping strong protective arms around Emily.
“I love you.” Emily whispered.
“I love you too.” Kevin said against Emily’s hair.
Slowly, Kevin led Emily over to the single table that was set up in the restaurant. Being the gentlemen he is, he pulled out Emily’s chair and tucked it back under once she was sat down and then walked to the chair facing Emily and sat down.
The couple ordered their food and sat about talking, about how they met, how they fell in love and how they couldn’t wait to be married. While this was happening, Claire and Joe were walking along, hand in hand, down the street from the hotel. Joe had taken precautions as to not get stalked by the paparazzi like Lauren and Nick.
“Claire?” Joe asked, looking down into Claire’s green eyes.
“Yeah.” She asked, not for one moments tearing her eyes from Joe’s.
“Do you think you will ever feel love?” He asked.
“I know I will. I mean I can feel it starting now.” She said as she stood on her tip toes and kissed Joe.
“Good, because I can feel it starting now.” Joe grinned back.
Claire snaked her arms around Joe’s neck as she lead her head against his chest, listening to his heart beat. Even though they were in the middle of the street, neither cared, all the cared about was being with each other, there, that moment, as if nothing else mattered.
Lauren and Nick were still sat in the room in the hotel, Nick was now playing the guitar, strumming gently as he played Cant Have You for Lauren. The words didn’t need to be sung, they just seemed to cling in the air between the two. Lauren sat, hugging her knees, while she looked at Nick lovingly, she couldn’t see herself not with him now, not after everything had just seemed to slot back into place once they had seen each other again. Lauren knew that once she was back in England, and even though her and Claire were only going for 2 weeks so they could send a few boxes of things out and then the rest of their things would be moving into storage, Lauren couldn’t cope with the fact that she was leaving Nick behind again. An idea came to Lauren suddenly though, she straightened up and looked at Nick.
“Nick?” Lauren said, determination on her face.
Nick looked up from the guitar and smiled at Lauren before answering, “Yeah?”.
“Will you come back to England with me, even if you only stay a few days, I want you to meet my family and I don’t want to be gone from you again.” Lauren said, suddenly shy.
“Of course I will.” Nick grinned.
“You mean it?”
“Of course I do. Ill have to tell the others and then Joe will probably want to come too, but im coming no matter what.”
“Thank you.” Lauren said as she hurled herself off of the floor and into Nick’s awaiting arms.
“That’s ok.” He said, kissing her hair gently.
Suddenly, Lauren remembered something she needed to tell Nick, before she forgot again, Lauren stiffened and pulled herself out of Nick’s arms. Her hand went instinctively to her lower back, so far Nick hadn’t touched it, but she knew he would so had to come clean about some of the things she done in England.
“Nick, I have to tell you something.” Lauren said as she knelt on the floor, her arms resting on the bed.
“Go ahead.” Nick said after a few moments of silence.
“Well, while I was in England, I did a lot of changing and a lot of growing up.” Lauren said, stopping while she gathered her thoughts.
“Ok.” Nick said, suddenly worried about what Lauren was about to tell him.
“Well, actually forget the growing up bit, I don’t think ill ever do that. Well, uhm, I kind of, uhm, got an uhm…” Lauren drifted off, not wanting to tell Nick in case he got mad at her.
“Tell me, I promise I won’t get mad.” Nick said gently, as if he had read her thoughts.
“Well, I kind of, uhm, got a, uhm… tattoo.” Lauren mumbled the last bit.
“You got a tattoo?” Nick said, trying to keep calm.
“Yeah, I knew you would get mad. I wish I never said anything.” Lauren said, chocking back sobs as she took in Nick’s tense body.
“Im not mad.” Nick said softly, instantly calming for Lauren.
“Yes you are.” Lauren sniffed.
“Im not, I promise. Can I see it? Or is it somewhere I don’t want to see?” Nick asked trying to make a joke out of the situation.
“You can see it, it’s on my back.” Lauren muttered.
Standing, Lauren turned around and pulled her top up slightly, moving her trousers down slightly so Nick could see the tattoo. Carefully, Nick climbed off of the bed and moved to Lauren. He stood behind her and with one, gentle, finger, he traced the tattoo.
“What does it mean?” Nick asked Lauren.
“Hope. I needed a lot of hope when I got back home and it seemed like a good thing to do.” Lauren said shrugging.
“It’s pretty.” Nick said, still tracing the tattoo.
“Are you mad at me?” Lauren asked, worry making her voice sound shaky.
“No, I can’t be mad at you, at least not for long anyway.” Nick said, turning Lauren around to face him.
“Sure?” Lauren asked worriedly.
“Yes im sure.” Nick said, kissing Lauren’s nose.
“I missed this.” Lauren said, her arms wrapped around Nick as if she was afraid to let him go in case he left.
“So did I.” Nick muttered into Lauren’s hair.
“So you’re gunna come to England? Or are you too mad at me to? Do you just wanna go and not speak for a few days? Im good if that’s what you want?” Lauren ranted on.
“Lauren, honey, calm down. Look, im coming to England with you, you couldn’t stop me now. And like I said before I can never stay mad at you and im defiantly not mad now. And im not leaving and I will speak to you every day.” Nick said before kissing Lauren.
As they pulled apart, their smiles matched the others. Lauren felt indestructible around Nick. Both stood their, hugging each other, smiles on their faces while Nick gently rubbed over Lauren’s tattoo as to not hurt her.
“You can feel the bumps.” Nick said suddenly.
“I know, it was really weird when I first got it, like scabs but more raised than normal scabs.” Lauren said, her head not once leaving Nick’s chest.
“That must of sucked. Did it hurt?”
“Yeah it did suck and not as much as you think it would have hurt. I guess it was worth the pain though because it did bring me more hope.”
“What do you mean? How did it bring you more hope?” Nick asked, confusion knitting his eyebrows together.
“Well, when I got it, I felt like I had no hope left. When I got it, it made me think that I had some hope. I guess that helped me to get up the courage to get in contact and then helped us get back together.” Lauren said, smiling up at Nick’s confused face.
“I get it, you felt like it brought you more hope.” Nick said, smiling down at Lauren.
“Yeah.” Lauren grinned.
“Im glad you got it then.” Nick said, gently rubbing the tattoo on Lauren’s back again.
