Can't have you.

2.

3 days later, Lauren and Emily make their weekly ritual visit to their local ice cream parlour.

Walking into the ice cream parlour, the two were discussing their ice cream of the day – mint choc chip… vanilla… honeycomb... strawberry… or Lauren’s favourite, chocolate fudge brownie.

“I am so having chocolate fudge brownie” Lauren shouted above the music that was coming from the juke box in the corner.

“Well, im having honeycomb so there” Emily’s voice matched the level of Lauren’s.

Running up to the counter, Lauren and Emily placed their orders, before Lauren skipped off to sit in the usual booth that they had claimed as ‘Their booth’. Next to the window, away from the sticky bins, and close to the juke box where they could choose the next tunes before anyone else there. Heaven. Absentmindingly Lauren, wobbling her spoon around, as she and Emily danced around to the beat of the song; a massive splodge of chocolate fudge brownie ice cream fell to the floor. Just as Lauren bent down to wipe it up with a napkin, laughing from behind her fringe, a conversed foot stood in it. Giggling, and now red from embarrassment, Lauren lifted her head to apologise to the stranger. Looking up at the sun glassed face, she turned a deeper shade of red, realising it was her stranger from McDonalds a few days ago.

“Nick? I am soo sorry. Here let me help you clean your shoe” Lauren frantically wiping the sticky napkin on his flawless new converse. Once a light blue colour were now a muddy brown mess.

“Lauren? Yes, it’s me. Look, don’t worry about it. I don’t like these that much anyways” Nick Absentmindingly pointed towards his converse.

“Yes, who else is as clumsy as me?” Lauren laughed, before looking up and Nick, her face reddening more and more. “Can I get you something to apologise?”

“No its fine, honestly” Nick smiled warmly at Lauren for the first time.

“Are you sure?” Lauren returned the smile, hers more embarrassed though.

“Yes, im sure. Honestly” once again Nick smiled warmly.

Emily, oblivious to the whole situation, was still sat in the folds of the shinny red seat, spoon in mouth after wolfing down the majority of her ice cream. Looking around for the first time, Emily laughed at Lauren’s unmistakably embarrassed reddened face. Turning her attention to the equally embarrassed Nick. As she hoisted herself up from the comfy chair to give the two embarrassed teens some privacy, she escaped to the front door, where she planned to leave quickly, leaving the two lovebirds together. Dashing through the transparent glassed door, she crashed right into a soft object. Looking up wearily, a cold chill on her chest from the sloppy ice cream flat against her, she recognised a similar person looking down at her, smirking slyly, before looking down at his ice cream ridden top. A smile grew across her face as it became clear to her who it was, and as he set eyes on her again, he also replied with a cheeky grin and beaming eyes. Emily realised how close she was to the now known Kevin, only melted chunks of honeycomb separating them. Moving back wearily, apologising to him repeatedly, the two slid back into the ice cream parlour where the sticky shoed couple were now sat gazing at each across the silver topped table between them.

“I’m really sorry about the ice cream collision” Emily laughed, pointing towards Kevin’s ice cream spoiled top.

“Don’t worry about it. Im sure it’ll come out” Kevin laughed, pointing down to his top himself.

“Yeah, I hope so. Sorry again though” Emily laughed again, before walking over to the table that Nick and Lauren were currently sat at.

Once all 4 were sat down, they ordered 4 Ben & Jerry’s Cookie Dough ice creams. Digging into the bowls of ice cream, conversations were started. Lauren spoke to Nick, apologising again for the ice cream stain on his converse, while staring into his eyes. Emily spoke to Kevin, unlike Lauren she was laughing about the accident that had ended up leaving her own and Kevin’s body a matter of centimetres apart. They too were staring into each others eyes, with more passion than the first time they had stared into the other ones eyes though.

After being sat together for around an hour, all talking to one another, Kevin and Nick nodded at one another, before standing up and saying their goodbyes. Once each had said goodbye, they left the table, leaving the 2 girls with confused expressions on their faces. Neither understood why the boys had left suddenly, without an explanation, all they knew was that they had gone and left them again, without leaving any way of contacting them once again. Confused and irritated, they gathered their things and chucked away the napkins that they had used to clear the mess they had created throughout the time at the ice cream parlour. When the 2 girls were about to leave the majority of the girls started screaming things that Lauren and Emily couldn’t understand, turning around they noticed 2 familiar boys walking into the parlour. All of a sudden, in the second that the 2 girls blinked, the new boys were stood in front of the girls smiling. Sliding back into sitting positions the girls blinked again. The 2 familiar faces were ones they had only seen on the TV and in magazines before. These faces were ones that any girl would swoon for without even realising it, they were Nick and Kevin Jonas. Smiling Nick and Kevin slid into the seats opposite the girls, Lauren and Emily once again blinked, confused by why 2 celebrities would come and sit on the same table as them. Sliding down into their chairs the girls smiled back; warily they went to stand up but were stopped by Nick striking up a conversation.

“Hey” he smiled at Lauren first then Emily.

“Hi” Lauren croaked shyly before smiling at Nick and then Kevin.

“Hey” Emily also smiled at the beautiful boys opposite them.

“Uhm… why are you sat with us?” Lauren turned red from embarrassment but sat up straight as if demanding to know the information the boys knew.

“You really don’t recognise us?” Kevin spoke for the first time, his eyes never leaving Emily’s eyes. As if they were entrancing to him.

“Nope” Emily smiled at both boys, before correcting herself. “Well, we do. Your Kevin and Nick Jonas”

“Yeah, but we know you” Kevin’s eyes were still locked with Emily’s as he spoke.

“How do you know us? We only know you because your famous” Lauren sounded worried but kept her facial expressions strong.

“You really don’t realise who we are? You know us for another reason that’s not because we’re famous” Nick kept his gaze on Lauren the whole time he spoke.

“Im confused. I have only ever seen you on TV and in magazines” Emily pulled her gaze away from Kevin now; she looked at Nick and then Lauren.

“This was a bad idea Kevin, they probably wont even like us now” Nick looked away from Lauren, so that he could look at Kevin.

“No its not” Kevin looked from Nick to Emily and then to Lauren. “Look girls, we met in McDonalds on Monday, Emily, you spilt ice cream over my top just over and hour ago. And Lauren, you banged heads with Nick on Monday and then he stood in your ice cream this morning” Kevin kept looking between the 2 girls.

“That wasn’t you? Wait, it wasn’t was it? I mean, the boys from earlier, they were called Nick and Kevin. And they did have the same hair as you too” Lauren leant forward and pushed a stray curl from Nicks face.

Smiling Nick blushed before speaking, “It was us. I have the converse in my car to prove it, if you want evidence that is”

“No, I don’t think I need evidence. Your smile and blush is enough of that” Lauren smiled at Nick, blushing herself.

“Yup, its defiantly you two. Ive only ever seen Lauren blush like that when she’s been around Nick” Emily spoke to only Kevin now, leaning across the table slightly.

Lauren and Nick were now talking in hushed tones to each other, both leaning slightly over the silver topped table like earlier in the afternoon, with huge smiles adorning their features. Emily and Kevin, also talking in hushed tones and leaning across the table, smiled and looked into each others eyes. Their expressions were full of passion. The 4 sat like this, ignoring the screaming teen girls, lost in their own little bubbles for about half an hour before Kevin looked over at Nick and smiled. Nick grabbed Lauren’s hand and wrote with a pen that he had pulled out of his tight jeans pockets a day, place, time and number. Smiling at her, he whispered in her ear, “Our date. Ring my number tonight and give me your address. Ill pick you up at that time”. Lauren smiled and blushed once more, Nick doing the same. Nick passed the pen to Kevin who then wrote on Emily’s hand. He gave her a number, a day, a time and a place. The same as Nick did to Lauren. After doing this he whispered into Emily’s ear, “Ring my number, ill come and pick you up and we’ll go on a date”. Kevin smiled at Emily, she returned it and did the same as Lauren had, and her face turned a light shade of pink where she slowly began to blush.

Sliding out of the big red chairs, Kevin and Nick smiled at the girls in turn before saying goodbye once again and leaving the parlour. Lauren and Emily sat in silence, utterly stunned by what had just happened. They had fallen for celebrities, and not because they knew they were celebrities but because they actually really liked them.
