Can't have you.

10.

Waking up in the morning, Emily realised she had fallen asleep on Kevin, once again. Shaking him gently, Emily woke Kevin up. Startled he let out a gasp, as he saw Emily. Both had bed hair and bed breath, but neither cared about the others appearance as they took each other in their arms and passionately kissed each other. The two walked out of Emily’s room hand in hand asking each other how they slept. After talking for a few moments, the couple, bounded into Laurens room, waking the sleeping forms up. Groaning, Lauren sat up and stretched while Nick sat up straight, surveying his surroundings. Once he realised where he was too, he stood up and walked over to Lauren. Taking in her messy bed hair, he realised that it wasn’t bed hair, he’d taken up the whole bed. Realising that she must have slept on either the floor or sofa, he felt a sudden pang of guilt. Because of him, Lauren had slept on either a very uncomfortable floor, or a small sofa.
“Morning guys” Emily chimed cheerfully.

“Morning” Lauren replied groggily.

“What time is it?” Nick asked disorientated.

“Umm, it’s about eleven now.” Emily replied casually.

“WHAT!?” Kevin and Nick exclaimed simultaneously

Lauren’s eyes widened, finally awake fully. The two girls looked awkwardly at one another before looking at the two Jonas’ puzzled.

“What’s going on guys?” Lauren replied before Emily plucked up the courage to ask.

“We had a meeting to arrange the next tour at 9” Kevin explained.

“Oh right, well, to bad” Lauren giggled slightly, trying to change the mood and atmosphere held in the room. The guys looked seriously at Lauren before accusing her of being childish. As they said it, Emily burst out laughing at the whole situation. Nick turned to look at Emily angrily as Kevin stood behind him smirking at them.

“This isn’t a joke you know, we take our career very seriously, don’t we Kevin?” Nick turned his glare to his Kevin to find him chuckling as the girls made jokes in front of Nick. Nick’s expression changed as he turned back to face them, shocked by their actions.

“Is it just me that finds this bad?” Nick asked hopefully.

“Lighten up Nick, it’s just one meeting. We’ll call and reschedule after breakfast.” Kevin spoke softly to Nick to calm him down.

“Seriously, Nick, no-ones going to worry about it, god” Lauren turned her attention from laughing to look at Nick properly.

“Lauren, seriously grow up. This is my career, my life, the only reason I am where I am today is because I have done everything I can to get here, and I mean ive never missed a meeting before. This might mess everything up for me”

“Nick, calm down. Nothing is going to happen because you missed one meeting. Seriously, you need to stop worrying” Lauren spoke softly to Nick, trying to make him see sense.

“It might Lauren, you don’t understand the music business. You don’t know anything” Nick stopped abruptly after saying the last sentence. Lauren’s mouth was hanging open.

“Whatever Nick, everyone get out of my room now!” Lauren was almost in tears.

“Lauren, calm down. Boys get out of here now please?” Emily looked at Lauren worry evident on her face.

“Get him out of here!” Lauren demanded again.

“Ok Lauren, he’s leaving” Emily tried to comfort her now tearful friend.

“I don’t want to see him again, he’s not the person I thought he was” Lauren had now raised her voice so that Nick could hear.

“Lauren, you don’t mean that. Just take some time to cool down.” Emily said calmingly.

“Emily, just get out of my room, Okay?” Lauren shouted, trying to manage her temper.

“But Lauren...” Emily started, but was cut off my Lauren holding up her hand, ushering Emily out of the room immediately. Walking out of the room, Emily walked into the living room where Nick and Kevin were sat.

“Is Lauren ok? Im so sorry, I need to talk to her” Nick tried to walk out of the living room to get to Lauren’s room but was stopped by Kevin.

“No she’s not ok Nick. She doesn’t want to talk to you ok? I think its best if you both go” Emily stated matter of factly.

“Come on Nick, let’s go. I don’t think either of them need us here at the moment, they don’t need any more grief from you” Kevin spoke as he grabbed Nick by the arm and led him out of the apartment.

Once outside, Nick pulled his phone out of his pocket. Dialling Lauren’s number he prayed for her to answer. She didn’t, she threw her phone out of the window, landing on the floor next to Nick. The screen was cracked, ‘Nick calling’ spread across the screen, the background of Nick showing for the picture id. Looking down at the broken up phone, Nick sighed before looking up at Lauren’s window. Hoping that she was still there, Nick’s eyes searched the window for evidence that Lauren was still there. she wasn’t, she left straight away, not wanting to see Nick’s face, his eyes that had always drawn Lauren in.

A few hours passed before Emily finally dared to go in to check on Lauren. She cautiously opened her bedroom door, seeing Lauren curled up on her sofa gazing out the window. Emily entered the room with a cup of tea and a bar of galaxy, from the cupboard, in hand. She walked over to Lauren and knelt down onto the floor to look at Lauren. Lauren had tears welling up in her eyes as she closed her eyes to avoid looking at Emily. Emily poked her gently to make her open her eyes. Lauren gradually opened her eyes, a tear rolling down her eyes as she muttered,

“I love him Emily.”

“I know you do Lauren. And I think I love Kevin too.” Both girls burst into tears crying on one another’s shoulders.

After a few moments, Emily pulled away from their embrace, wiping her tears away before laughing at each other.

“Look at us.” Emily laughed, looking at Lauren with mascara from last night running down her cheeks, with Emily looking equally as bad. Lauren let out a howl of laughter before pushing Emily jokily. Emily tried to calm herself down after a fit of laughter, handing the still warm cup of tea to Lauren who was still led across her sofa. Lauren took the cup from Emily gratefully. Emily smiled gladly in relief that Lauren had taken the mug and seemed to feel a bit better. As Lauren closed her eyes again, swallowing the hot tea, Emily quickly broke off a row of galaxy chocolate, dunking it in Lauren’s tea, before running out of the room laughing. Lauren laughed at her cheerfully, but returned to her depressive state after she had left, appreciating the effort that Emily had made all the same.
