If He Was Any Kind Of Normal

I'm Actually Pretty Gifted

“You really didn’t have to leave them to help me. They seemed upset.” Brandon nicely said.

“It’s okay. They’ll get over it. Besides, they were being rude. We weren’t planning on leaving anytime soon. So they could have helped you.” I said.

“Oh.” Was his response.

“I thought you were hungry.” Brandon said a minute later, breaking the silence as we continued to walk.

“I’ll be fine.” I had gotten used to not eating so often. Living with two, now three vampires is an excellent way to lose a few pounds. “What about you? I thought you wanted a cheeseburger.” I smiled.

He laughed, “Yeah, well your storming off earlier had a much better effect with me following you. Besides, I wasn’t that hungry.”

“Are you sure? We can go back if you want. I’m sure they’re gone now.”

“Really, it’s fine. I don’t… eat much.” He said.

The way he said that sounded so familiar. What was it? Oh, it reminded me off how Everett joked about not needing to eat. Weird…

“What?” Brandon was staring at me.

“Oh, nothing.” I said. Not wanting to lip and say something about Everett that I shouldn’t.

“Really, what? You looked like you were thinking.”

I guess I could say something. “You just remind me of my brother, that’s all.”

“Oh.” he chuckled a bit.

“Well, here’s the first store we should stop at. I’m sure you’ll find something here.” I stopped outside the store and Brandon started walking in.

He turned around to look at me when he noticed that I wasn’t following him, “Well, aren’t you coming in with me?” he asked.

“I think I’m just going to call my brother first. He was going somewhere today and I just wanted to tell him to come back early and pick me up.” I pulled out my call phone. I started to dial but then my phone suddenly disappeared from my hands.

“You’re not calling Everett.” Brandon said with my cell phone in his hand.

“Um, what? Give me my phone back.” I demanded. What was he doing? I took a step towards him, but he suddenly vanished. I stumbled backwards, taken by surprise, and looked around. I didn’t see him.

Oh my gosh. This makes sense now. He is a vampire. That’s why he was so gorgeous and why his eyes were black. And that wasn’t good because it meant he was thirsty. He could attack any second. He knew Everett was a vampire too, that’s why he didn’t want me to cal him. Oh, it even makes sense now why he was asking about how many brothers I have. He smelled both Zachary and Everett on me.

It took only about a second for me to figure all of this out in my head. Then he reappeared in front of me.

“You don’t have a phone anymore. What? You should be used to such speed. You know, since your brother is Everett, and we are both vampires. Then, there is also another, maybe a boyfriend? Yeah, that sounds right, and his name…. Zachary? Am I right?”

I couldn’t answer. How did he know his name?

“I guess I’m right. I usually am. Scents just have a way of fitting a certain name. I’m actually pretty gifted.” As he said this he walked towards me and grabbed my arm. His grip was tight and would probably leave a huge bruise. I wasn’t going to struggle though because I knew what he was capable of. Especially if he was who I thought he was. One of Jamie’s workers.

He pulled me towards the nearest exit. As we were walking he continues to talk, “Not only can I usually put a name to the scent, but I can sort of picture them in my head. And if I smell the scent off of a person, such as yourself, I know what relationship those two people have. I can sense Everett is very protective of you. So this is going to be fun.”
