The Nobody
The Last Song By The Nobody
Then Mel, who was really good at computers, fixed so that the song was taken away from one Green Day song, the one Joey was going to sing.
And Joey sang it in front of her in her garage a couple of times, to see that he could sing all the words, and he could.
So the days went terribly slow, Joey thought and he wanted to sing so badly, he started singing in class and the guys who were meanest to him laughed so hard at it that they fell off their chairs.
Joey just blushed and then continued with the working, and he did really well, when the teacher talked with him about his grades, he said that Joey was very good at every subject, only when he wanted to, he put in.
Joey understood exact ally what the teacher meant, he meant that Joey was unpredictable when it was about working in school, and teachers don’t like that, they want to have predictable, good kids who work their asses off just to get good grades.
Joey wasn’t like that, he did his best when he worked, and he only worked when he wanted to as the teacher said to him.
And finally, the graduation day came.
When the principal had held his traditional speech the teacher from Joey’s first class came onto the stage.
And then he said, with a smile:
‘Are you people ready to laugh, I mean, are you ready to rock?’
And then everybody screamed back at him:
‘WE ARE READY TO DO BOTH’
Then the teacher shouted:
‘Here he is! The boy known as Joey, but let’s just call him, well whatever you want to.’
Joey entered the stage to a crowd who was very upset to see him on there.
He wore a black shirt, his black Cheap Monday pants, eyeliner, stud belt, and a red tie.
The music started playing, it was the melody of ‘Minority’ and Joey started to sing.
He sang until the first chorus and then Michel, the guy who had beaten Joey up, threw a rock towards Joeys head.
It missed just by an inch and Joey looked terrified, he stopped the song and said to Mel to stop the music.
‘Come here, then Michel, come on and kill me if you hate me so much’, Joey shouted to Michel.
The boy, Michel, walked to the stage and calmly walked up on it.
Joey said to him:
‘If you hate me so much, you dickhead, come on and kill me.’
Michel just walked against him, raised his fist and hit Joey in the head.
When Joey rose Michel hit him again, and then he took his foot to Joey’s head and started kicking.
When Joey rose for the second time Michel pushed him off the stage.
Then the teachers came to help Joey and one of them called an ambulance.
Mel went with him and held his hand all the way in the ambulance; she was so frightened that he would die.
When they came to the hospital, the doctors directly started checking if he was badly hurt.
The doctors told Mel that Joey was bleeding inside the stomach and they were going to operate.
Mel was terrified.
She wanted him to get well, and then she would hug him.
The operation took several hours; the doctors couldn’t find the place where the bleeding was.
But finally they did and they fixed it.
Mel was so relived when the doctors told her that the bleeding was stopped.
‘So, is he going to be ok?’, she asked.
The doctors looked at each other and then finally one of them took Mel, sat her down and sat down in the chair next to hers.
The doctor looked into her eyes, took a deep breath and said:
‘Joey has fallen into a coma, we don’t know if he will wake up.’
Mel just stared at the doctor, and then she started crying.
The doctor took his arms around her to hug her, he did that until she stopped crying, and then Mel said to him:
‘Can I be with him?’
The doctor nodded and Mel walked into the room where Joey was.
The doctors called Joey’s parents and they came to the hospital as fast as they could.
When they came into Joey’s room Mel met them in the door and told them what had happened at the graduation and what the doctors had done for him so far.
Then all three of them sat down, next to Joey’s bed. His mum cried, his dad held his own head in his hands and Mel held Joey’s hand and hoped that he would wake up soon.
And as far as I know, those three people, still sit there and the parents has vacation and so does Mel so they are at the hospital twenty four, seven and they only sleep a few hours every night.
One night when Mel sat next to the bed alone; Joey’s parents had gone to sleep, she made a promise to herself and to Joey.
She wrote it down on a piece of paper so that she would remember it:
Joey, if you wake up…
I will be yours.
I will be by your side.
For ever and ever
