Still Doll
Epilogue
Again, the snow sprinkled over the expanse of the land and Winter couldn’t help but smile. This was truly her element. The now grown woman kneeled in the snow, hands folded together in her lap as her dark eyes stared at the headstone before her.
“It was so strange to see Silk at my doorstep, older but still as lovely as ever. Even though she came to tell me bad news, that smile was still on her face. She was really happy to see Kale and I, and vice versa. It was really sad that I didn’t get to see you one last time. The day that I left your house was the day that I forgave you, because I couldn’t stay mad at you.”
Her gloved hand went to feel the chiseled writing on the tombstone, and Winter smiled sadly.
“Thank you for leaving the house to me, and all the people inside it. I’m sure you thought that I was going to send everyone out, but I can’t do that. I’ll carry on your legend Master, this place will always be a home for talented people who just want a home.”
As the wind began to pick up, Winter took two picture frames out of her coat and placed them next to the stone. “You’ll always be in my memory, and I hope you’re happy up in heaven with your daughter.”
The woman stood up and dusted the snow off of her pants. She turned and started to walk away before turning back to the grave. “Thank you for taking care of me dad.”
She walked away now into the large house that wasn’t too far away and was met by Kale and Silk, who welcomed her into the house and closed the door behind her.
The two picture frames glowed against the white snow as it reflected the stone. One was of Master Rinehart’s daughter, all smiles as her bright blue eyes focused on the camera. The second picture was of Winter, along with her husband Kale, and their cute little daughter. She was around five years old, and looked exactly like her mother. Her dark brown hair framed her face, she herself looking like a porcelain doll. She also had eyes as blue as the sea. And her name?
Lily.
Okay, thanks dinosaursgorawr for suggesting an epilogue, I just had enough creativity left to create this. I hope everyone injoyed this story as much as I had writing it.
